I've been relying heavily on hot drinks to fight all sorts of maladies this winter. Various tisanes for various symptoms, turmeric milk for sore muscles, and hot chocolate when I'm feeling blue.
Here I've got a tisane of ginger, rose hips, and lemon to soothe an upset stomach and fight a cold. Rose hips are high in vitamin c, ginger is good for several digestive issues, and lemon has all kinds of vitamins and minerals.
I love turmeric milk, and it's as easy to make as the hot chocolate I've been treating myself to. It's best in a high-power blender if you're using fresh turmeric, which I prefer. Blend homemade cashew milk, cinnamon, a 1-inch piece of turmeric, a bit of vanilla bean (totally optional), and half a date if you want some sweetness, until completely smooth. Transfer to a small pot and gently heat on the stove.
